WANGEDI GALA

One of the popular hikes in Sri Lanka, Wangedigala Mountain is covered in lush greenery. The hike is about two to three hours, and once you get to the summit, you’ll be rewarded with amazing views of Bambarakanda. You can also do some camping here – get here early in the morning to enjoy the glorious sunrise. Wangedigala is a Sinhala word, which translates to pestle in English – the mountain is called Wangedigala on account of its pestle-like shape. The scenic hiking trail falls through a pine forest. Tourists are advised to take extra care when climbing the mountain, especially when it’s raining. Take your camera with you as you’ll have plenty of opportunities at nature photography; also, don’t forget to get yourself hiking shoes and warm clothing if you are planning to get here early in the morning.
