LIPTON SEAT

Located close to Dambatane Tea Factory, the Lipton Seat is one of the best vantage points in Sri Lanka. The name, the Lipton Seat, pays tribute to Sir Thomas Lipton, a Scottish tea planter – he used to sit here and watch over his massive tea empire. Climbing up to the site is a scenic experience in itself. There are two routes you can take: one is from Bandarawela and the other one is from Haputale. Both routes are marked with name boards. Whichever route you take, the climb takes about two and half hours. If you want to take pictures, start early in the morning. You will also encounter two other attractions on your way: Lemathota waterfall and Catherine’s Seat. The entrance fee is LKR 100, and you can visit from 6 am to 5 pm.
