Kumana Wetland Santuary

Kumana National Park is well known for its massive bird population, particularly its large flocks of migratory waterfowl and wading birds. It is one of Sri Lanka’s principal bird sanctuaries and is located bordering to Yala National Park. Thousands of aquatic birds can be seen in the mangrove swamps of Kumana throughout the year, particularly in the period between October and April, and is paradise for all birdwatchers.Not only for birds but also a refuge to mammals like Elephants,Leopards,Sloth Bears and large herds of asiatic water buffalos.The best wildlife viewing time is from dawn to 10 am or from 3pm to dusk
