The dry season from February to March is the ideal time to visit, when birdlife and other animals frequently gather at the park’s watering holes.

While Kumana Weltands is famous for its birdlife, you can also expect to see elephants, crocodiles, sloth bears, and, if you’re lucky, the Sri Lankan leopard.

Light, comfortable clothing in earthy colours is recommended. It is also advisable to bring a hat, sunglasses and bug repellent.
